Don't use human toothpaste, for pete's sake!
Make a paste of baking soda and water. They don't like the taste, but it works really well.I cant afford dog toothpaste, but i really need to brush her teeth what should i do?
I'm concerned here. If you can't afford $5 for a tube of dog toothpaste, how are you affording vet bills? And what if an emergency comes up?
Just using the toothbrush will help. http://www.dog-health-guide.org/canineto鈥?/a> has more recipes.
And, of course, annual dental cleanings are usually recommended - or as needed. I cant afford dog toothpaste, but i really need to brush her teeth what should i do?
Get her a knuckle bone, as they chew on it the tatar comes off the teeth.
Just use the brush right now if you can't afford to get toothpaste, it will at least help remove some of the buidup on your dogs teeth. don't use human toothpaste or baking soda as both of these can harm your dog by causing upset stomach and the baking soda can irritate the stomach lining. Dog toothpaste isn't that expensive so when you have a few extra dollars, go get a tube.
OK, I brush my dogs teeth and the tooth past only cost $10 so if you can't afford that, how can you afford having a dog at all?
Also, brushing is GREAT for your dogs teeth, but not a neccesity.
If you feed them kibble or carrot or something dry to eat the majority of the time, their teeth will be fine.
Also, you really shouldn't use a human tooth brush either, buy a dog one from your vet if you are considering doing it.
But seriously, how can you NOT be able to afford toothpast when you need to buy their food and medical expense?
Feed your dog baby carrots, they will help clean the teeth...do not consider using human toothpaste on your dog
My friend who has two dogs and she never brush her dogs' teeth. She feed her dogs raw. I used to feed kibble for two years and my dogs' teeth were horrible! I followed her advise and switch my dogs to raw. I never need to brush their teeth again. They are pretty white with no tartar around their canine.
you can not use human toothpaste for dogs, dogs don't know to spit out toothpaste and the fluoride can be harmful to pets.
Try asking your veterinarian for samples or email the company.

Dog toothpaste is only like $5.00 at Petco, Petsmart or Walmart.
I'm pretty sure baking soda will work, and it's dog safe. But it doesn't taste as good to dogs as poultry flavored dog tooth paste!
DO NOT give your dog human toothpaste,Dogs can not tolerate Fluoride! Use baking soda mixed with water (to create a paste consistency) and brush away! This is the best solution if you can't afford toothpaste
Do not use human toothpaste on a dog. You can buy little pet toothbrush covers that go over your finger. You don't need toothpaste, the little bristles when used daily can be good enough.
There are drops that you can get to put into their water that helps too. Not sure if it is any cheaper or not.
You do not have to use toothpaste on the dog. Just use a toothbrush dampened. The brushing is what does the work, toothpaste is optional. DO NOT USE HUMAN TOOTHPASTE, it has flouride which is poison to dogs (and us). Why do you think you are supposed to spit it out. Dogs don't spit, so don't use it on them.
I work at a vet with a doctor that specializes in canine dentistry.
What she recommends often for people is just to take a wash cloth and get it damp and wipe the teeth off every day.
That greatly helps reduce that tartar. Do not use human toothpaste. You can contact your vet and they probably have some samples that they could give you.
As for carrots - they won't help your dog's teeth, but they will help to reduce excess weight from high calorie treats and are much more hypoallergenic than traditional dog treats.
Best wishes!
If you can't afford canine toothpaste, what are you going to do if your dog has a real medical problem? I can't even believe that you asked this question. I hope you didn't have fillet mignon for dinner tonight!
dont use a regular tooth paste!! she/he could swallow it which is as bad for her/him as it is bad for us. just use a tooth brush or you could use a kids tooth paste that are meant for kids and that are ok to swallow or just use a tooth brush and water
You use your toothpaste, it's basically the same thing, don't buy into that crap.
